(10分)阅读下面短文, 根据短文内容, 从短文后各题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中, 选择最佳选项。CA desert is a difficult place for animals to live, and some have unusual ways of making a living. The Texas lizard has a strange way to keep itself safe. When a predator(掠食动物) gets too close, blood goes out from the lizards eyes. Then it breathes in much air to make its body look bigger. Another interesting desert animal is the javelina. To make a predator afraid and run away, the javelina bravely faces the animal. It makes a big noise with its teeth. It raises the hard hairs on its back to make itself look bigger. The javelina also gives off a strong smell as a warning when it is afraid. This smell is so strong that javelinas are also called smelly pigs. Javelinas keep safe by staying close to their family, so theres a good chance they can make a predator change its mind! You might think a rain forest would be easier to live in than a desert. After all, theres plenty of food and water in a rain forest. But that also means a lot of animals live there. Being able to climb trees is a useful skill in the rain forest. It allows an animal to keep away from predators. The sloth spends most of its life in the treetops. Its strong, curved claws(爪子) help it climb and hang upside down from branches. The sloth also moves very slowly. It does this so its not noticed. The aye-aye lives only in the rain forest of Madagascar, near Africa. The aye-aye is a night animal. This helps it to stay safe from daytime predators. However, the number of the aye-aye keeps going down and they may die out. People have hunted it because they think it brings bad luck. Also, much of the rain forest in Madagascar has been cut down, which has destroyed the aye-ayes home. Today there are laws(法律) to keep people from killing it.(1)What is the passage mainly about? A . What the animals in the desert look like.B . How the animals in the rain forest find their food.C . How the animals in the desert and in the rain forest stay safe.D . What animals are in danger of losing their living environment.(2)How does a lizard protect itself when a predator gets too close? A . It climbs trees.B . It makes a big noise.C . It gives off a strong smell.D . Blood goes out from its eyes.(3)What can we learn from the passage? A . The aye-aye is a welcome animal in Africa.B . There is no food, no water and no danger in the desert.C . The lizard and the javelina can make their bodies look bigger to keep safe.D . It is really dangerous for the sloth to live in the forest no matter where it is.(4)Why does the sloth move very slowly?A . Because it is a kind of lazy animal.B . Because it is too fat to move fast.C . In order not to be easily noticed.D . In order not to hurt its claws.2. (12分)(2015江西南昌)Today there are many fires than in the past. Over 100,000 wildfires burn each year in America. Russia has 20,000 to 35,000 wildfires every year. Australia has on average 60,000 each year. These fires destroy(损害)huge areas of forests and burn hundreds of homes. Many experts believe there are several reasons for this sudden increase in fires. The first reason is climate(气候)change. Recent weather has been warmer and drier. This leads to dangerous fire conditions. When lightening strikes(发生雷电),dry grass easily catches fire. Hot winds add to the problem. The wind spreads a fire quickly. In 2010, Russia had the hottest and driest summer in a century. In just one month, 500 fires destroyed over 2,000 homes. Some people lost their lives.Traditional fire-fighting practices are another reason for the increase in fires. In America, firefighters used to quickly put out every fire. They didnt allow the grass and trees to burn. As a result, today many forests have thicker vegetation(植被).Thicker vegetation means more fuel(燃料)for fires. Also, without fires from time to time, forests become overcrowded and unhealthy. Some trees are dead. The dead wood then easily catches fire. So surprisingly, America has many more fires today partly because of its past fire-fighting practices.Scientists now understand that a fire can be a natural part of a healthy forest. As a result, countries like Australia allow more fires to burn naturally. Sometimes, fire fighters even start fires to get rid of(去除)dead wood. Of course, they carefully control the fires. The fire thins out old trees. This allows sunlight to reach the ground. As a result, fires help new trees to grow. Therefore, if a fire is not a serious threat(威胁)to people, firefighters may let it burn naturally.(1)Why did Russia have so many fires in one month in 2010?A . Because lightening spread the fire.B . Because there was much fuel for fires.C . Because there were not enough firefighters.D . Because it was unusually hot, dry and windy.(2)What is the main idea of Paragraph 4?A . Fires are serious threats to human beings.B . Australian firefighters dont put out fires.C . Fires can play an important role I forests.D . Its difficult for firefighters to control the fires.(3)Which of the following is true according to the passage?A . Not all the fires in the forests must be put out.B . Peoples carelessness leads to dangerous fires.C . Australia allows all the fires to burn naturally.D . There are more fires in Russia than in the USA.3. (10分) Food waste has become a big problem in China.Zhou Jinsong, a canteen(食堂) manager at Central South University, said that students produce over 12 barrels(桶) of leftovers every day each barrel stands at one meter in height. Zhous canteen is just one of several on the campus.According to Xinhua News Agency, the food wasted by Chinese people equates to about 50 million tons of grain every year, or 10 percent of the countrys total annual grain production. This food could feed another 200 million people. What students waste every year could feed over 10 million people. Students nowadays are well protected by their families and hardly know how hard farmers work to provide them with the food they eat.“Since the 1980s, when Chinese gradually became richer, food waste has been a subject of debate. But things have hardly changed over the years,” said Yu Changjiang, a sociologist at Peking University. “Its the Chinese way of showing respect to friends, often referred as Mianzi.”But rather than tradition, huge public spending on government banquets(宴会) is also causing food waste, said Zhou Xiaozheng from the sociology department at Renmin University of China. “Its the result of widespread reception meals at government levels. It is also important that everyone thinks about how they can do their best to reduce food waste.”(1)Which of the following statements is not the reasons for food waste?A . Some of the hot water at the bottom of the jar turned into hot water vapor(蒸汽). The water vapor rose and met with the cold air coming off the ice. When the water vapor condensed, it formed a cloud. Hot air rises and carries with it lots of water vapor, the higher the air rises, the more it cools down.
