It requires you to predict what other road users will do and get ready to react to something unexpected. When alcohol is consumed, it enters your bloodstream and acts as a depressant(抑制药),damaging eyesight, judgement and coordination(协调),slowing down reaction time and greatly increasing the risk of accidents. Even below the drink driving limit, driving will be affected. Alcohol may take a few minutes to be absorbed into the bloodstream and start action on the brain. Absorption rate is increased when drinking on an empty stomach or when consuming drinks mixed with fruit juice. To get rid of alcohol from the body is a very slow process and it is not possible to speed it up with any measures like taking a shower or having a cup of tea or coffee. The present Road Traffic Ordinance states clearly that the limit of alcohol concentration is: 50 milligrams of alcohol per 100ml of blood; or 22 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath; or 67 milligrams of alcohol per 100ml of urine(尿液) Drivers who cause traffic accidents, or who commit a moving traffic offence or are being suspected of drink driving will be tested. Any driver found drinking beyond the limit will be charged. The driver declared guilty may be fined a maximum of HK $25,000 and be sentenced to up to 3 years in prison and punished for 10 drivingoffence points; or temporarily banned from driving. The same punishment applies to failing to provide specimens(样本) for breath, blood or urine tests without good excuse. Drink driving is a criminal offence. Be a responsible driver, think before you drink. For the safety of yourself and other road users, never drive after consuming alcohol.31The first paragraph is mainly about _.A. the introduction of driving skills B. the damage of drinking to your bodyC. the effect of drinking on driving D. the process of alcohol being absorbed32The underlined word “it” in the second paragraph refers to “_”A. alcohol B. absorptionC. blood D. process33Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?A. Wansink calls this kind of food comfort food. For some people, ice cream is a comfort food. For others,a bowl of noodles soup makes them feel good. _36_ Professor Wansink believes that we connect food with important times, feelings, and people in our lives. “When I was a child,my mother made a delicious soup; I loved it. _37_ And it helps me feel better,” says one of Wansinks coworkers.Do men and women choose different comfort foods? Wansinks research at the University of Illinois says “yes”. In his study, the favorite comfort food for both men and women was ice cream. After this, men usually preferred hot, savory (香的) foods like soup or noodles. _38_ Men and women like to eat comfort foods when they are happy, but women eat these foods more when they are sad or worried. _39_ About 40 percent of the comfort foods in Wansinks study were healthy main dishes or soups and vegetables. It shows, says Wansink, that a comfort food can taste good and be good for you. ANot all comfort food is junk food.BWhere can we buy this sort of food?CSweet foods are also their preference.DHow does a food become a comfort food?E. Usually,we eat because we are hungry or need energy.F. Women like sweet things such as chocolate and cookies.G. Now,I often have this kind of food when I am tired or worried.110 CCDAC ABDDA 11-30 BDCAD CDCDA CBBCA BDDAC3134 CDBA 3539 EDGFA答案课时作业(一).1.C考查带有插入语的特殊疑问句的语序。do you think/believe/imagine/suppose/expect/guess等后接宾语从句时,若从句部分由特殊疑问词引导, 则do you think等要放在疑问词之后,从句要使用陈述语序。 switch on“打开(电灯、电视等)”;switch over(to)“转换频道,转变”;switch off“关掉(电灯、电视等)”;switch through“(把电话)接到(某分机), 接过来”。 6C考查prefer doing sth. to doing sth. a balanced diet是固定搭配,表示“合理、均衡的饮食”;room表示“空间”时为不可数名词,make room for表示“为腾出空间”。 length“长度”;distance“距离”;way“方法”;space“空间”。 get off“下车,出发”;carry off“获得”;go off“爆炸”;come off“与分离”。 故用on my own。 pick out“挑选,认出”; take on“呈现,承担”;give up“放弃”。 故选good。have a good feeling about sb. make use of“利用”;take care of“照顾”;run out of
