Especially, many students are losing their interest and showing negative attitude towards English learning. To some degree, the effective way to make the English teaching and learning go smoothly is to improve students interest in English learning. Einstein once said “Interest is the best teacher.” Interest is a kind of direct motivation to push students studies. So teachers work not only to imparting knowledge, but also to stimulating students interests to study. Now, I will share some insights.1. To Improve the Teachers Overall QualityA teacher plays a decisive role between success and failure in the process of arising the studying interest. Naturally, the teachers overall quality must be improved constantly because humorous words, full enthusiasm and rich English knowledge and abilities can help to attract the students attention easily and efficiently. So the teacher needs to consider EQ and IQ all the time. Just so, teachers can stimulate the interest of English learning for students more successfully.Firstly, a teachers moral character is quite important. German famous educator Multi-Andean once said, “The art of education is not in teaching knowledge and skill, but in inspiring, awaking, and encouraging.” Briefly speaking, the morality of the teacher is love for their students. It is a kind of love as parents. When we refer to education, there is no doubt that emotion is the most vital word because a teacher has great influence over his students. We can quote the words of Tolstoy, “A teacher if he/she only loves his/her cause, is a good teacher. A teacher if he/she loves the children just as parents do, is much better than the one who masters rich knowledge but loves neither his/her cause nor the children. If the teacher combine the love for the cause and for the students, they will be perfect teachers.” So love is the most precious in education. This will make teachers possess affinity and will promote harmonious relationship between teachers and students. So teachers may control the whole class easily.Secondly, just like Tolstoy said, a teacher only with love is not enough. They must be in possession of enough knowledge to teach. In this information age, teachers must vary their traditional thoughts and ideas on education and enrich their professional knowledge supply by surfing the Internet and distance education, etc. A teacher with rich knowledge will have attraction to the students. So fluent spoken language and humorous talk with a world of knowledge on all subjects will help the teacher to win the hearts of the students. Thus the teacher will also be accepted naturally. This will help to enhance appeal and prestige. The interest to learning for students will not stop. 2. Build a Harmonious Relationship with the StudentsThere is an old Chinese saying, “If only the students are closed to teacher, they would love the teachers lesson.” In other words, when the students like and cling to the teacher, they will love the subject that the teacher teaches. Therefore, to carry out teaching and learning smoothly, teachers should build a harmonious relationship with the students. All of the students are equal and they have the same right to accept education at school. So teachers should treat each student equally and have to make the students feel that they are as important as any other students in teachers eyes. Teachers can communicate with them and know them well with both life and study. We all know that its really an annoying thing that talking about the study but nothing. Teachers should spare an eye on students life, too. A good study cant be apart from a real life. When the students feel it glad to talk with the teacher, they will love to listen to the lesson. Especially, English need to make dialogues. When teachers and students are closed enough, they will find it easy to talk with their teachers easily. As teachers, they not only approve the self-admiration of students, but create opportunities to have them experience the sense of achievements. Only by obtaining the joy of success can teachers stimulate the students curiosity for new knowledge. Because success can inspire them to hope for next victory, teachers try to ask more questions and make every student in class answer them correctly. After a long time, the students will overcome the fear of learning, and be brave enough to open their mouth to speak. Besides, giving the students more praise than criticism will win surprise harvest. Once the students build confidence in one subject, they would be interested in it. Teacher should give more encouragement and praise to the students rather than some strict and cold words on them. When they make a little progress, praised words can be given to them, such as, “Good job”, “Well done”, “You are clever”, “Wonderful”, or give big hands for them. They will feel great and will make greater effort in it.3. Create English-learning Atmosphere English is a foreign language. Students have little chance to hear and say it out of class. Most of the students rely on the teacher lead them to the English world. Language learning can not go without atmosphere. During the class, teachers should create English-learning atmosphere, which helps students learn English easily. Using English classroom language as much as possible is a common way. It will offer the students the greatest chance to hear English. With the limitation of students vocabulary, teachers have to simplify the teaching language. The body language helps a lot. Teachers would use facial expressions and body movement to make the student get the meaning easily. They will possibly find it interesting and imitate the teachers tone and facial expressions. That will make the students immerse themselves in the English world and help to make the class vividly.Besides, at the time of learning sentences and dialogues, teachers need to create some real conditions that close to life, which can reduce the difficulty and arouse students interest. Learning have a relative relationship with life. So teachers can make some vivid circumstance, and encourage students to imitate the example to create a real show. Furthermore, the teacher should organize interesting activities based on the related contents in the English textbooks. For example, a teacher can organize varieties of English games, teach the students to sing English songs, and watch short English films, etc. And the teacher can help the students to combine entertainment with learning. Games are the most important ways of making class alive and stimulating studying interest. Try to make sure that every student moves their eyes, hands, face, mouth, other parts of bodies, and especially thoughts in every class.4.Using Real Objects to Initiate InterestIn early stage of language training, teachers should use real objects in daily life adequately and enable the students to grasp the English language and skill in a relaxed atmosphere. Especially when the real objects are close to students life, they will have more interests in those things. Take an example of teaching names of the stationary. The teacher can have the students open the pencil-case firstly, take out a pen, and then raise it and say, “a pen”. Take out two pens and say, “two pens”. Repeat several times and ask the students to follow their teachers. Not only can the students remember the word pen, but also they can show curiosity about the plural form of nouns.
